Mantralaya: MP Dr C N Manjunath on Wednesday called for greater public participation in water conservation and environmental protection while attending the foundation stone laying ceremony for the Raghav Sarovara project in Mantralaya.
Speaking at the event organised by the Raghav Sarovara Foundation, Manjunath said rapid industrialisation and urbanisation had increased air and water pollution, making the conservation of lakes, rainwater harvesting, groundwater recharge and tree plantation essential.
He described water as the “white gold” of the future and urged people to conserve it to ensure adequate resources for coming generations.

Manjunath said water and oxygen were invaluable natural resources whose importance was often realised only during shortages. He stressed that conservation efforts were necessary to secure a greener environment for future generations.
He also appreciated actor and producer Madan Patil for contributing Rs 25 lakh towards the project, saying the social commitment behind the donation was equally significant.
Mantralaya Matha pontiff Sri Subudhendra Teertha and HAL chairman Ranganath attended the event.
