Belagavi: The Belagavi district administration has imposed a ban on liquor sales across the district until 6am on November 6, citing concerns over law and order amid intensifying protests by sugarcane farmers.
Acting Deputy Commissioner Rahul Shinde issued the order as a precautionary measure following demonstrations in several parts of the district.

Farmers staged a protest at Channamma Circle, condemning the police detention of farmer leaders Chunappa Pujari and Shashikant Guruji. The agitation has spread to multiple areas, with protesters blocking roads and disrupting traffic on state highways.
The road blockades have affected transport movement, while police personnel have been deployed to monitor the situation and prevent further escalation.
