Patan, Oct 23 (IANS) Two members of a family were killed and four others, including two minors, were injured when their car collided head-on with a truck on the Radhanpur-Sami Highway in Gujarat’s Patan district, officials said on Friday.
The deceased were identified as Ranjit Mangilal and his mother, Jamnaben. Both died on the spot following the collision, according to police.
The family was travelling from Dwarka towards Bhabhar in neighbouring Banaskantha district when the accident occurred.
Their car collided with a truck approaching from the opposite direction, leaving four other occupants injured. Officials said the injured family members were rushed to a hospital for treatment.
Further details about their condition were not immediately available. “Police were in the process of registering a first information report (FIR) and further details would emerge as the investigation progressed,” they added.
The latest accident comes amid other road crashes reported in the Radhanpur area in recent months.
On September 6, three people were killed, and four others injured when an Eeco car carrying a group returning from a pilgrimage to Khatu Shyam in Rajasthan rammed into a truck parked along the Radhanpur-Varahi Highway.
According to reports, the crash occurred near Raghavji Hotel, close to Radhanpur, and the injured were taken to hospital.
The earlier accident involved a stationary truck, unlike today’s collision, in which the truck was travelling in the opposite direction.
The circumstances leading to the latest head-on collision, including what caused the vehicles to collide, were not immediately known. Police are expected to establish the sequence of events as part of their investigation.
The identities of the four injured occupants, including the two minors, and the hospital where they were admitted were not immediately available in the information released by police.
