
Vadodara, Sep 8 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Gujarat on Tuesday has created excitement among locals, with several people attending the programme saying they feel proud to have the opportunity to see him in person.
IANS spoke to some people who had gathered to attend the Prime Minister’s programme in Vadodara.
A local said: “I have never seen him in person. I have only seen him on television. I am very excited.”
Another local said: “We are going to meet Modi ji. We are very happy and proud that we will get the opportunity to perform in front of him. It is a matter of pride for us. Most importantly, we will get to meet the Prime Minister.”
Another attendee described the occasion as the “biggest day” for her and said she had brought her children to the event.
“It is the biggest day for me. We have got the chance to meet PM Modi, and I have come here with my children. I have never seen him at close quarters. I have seen him on television, delivering speeches and doing good work. This is my first time. The development of India is very good because of Modi ji,” she said.
A teacher attending the programme said her son was scheduled to perform at the event.
“I am a teacher by profession. Today, my son is performing here. I have taken leave, and it is a matter of pride that my son will perform in front of PM Modi,” she said.
Another local said: “We are grateful that we will get to see PM Modi up close. I am very excited.”
The Prime Minister will lay foundation stones, inaugurate, and dedicate to the nation various development projects worth more than Rs 35,000 crore in Vadodara. He will also address the gathering.
The projects include three key sections of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor, covering 326 route kilometres and developed at a cost of more than Rs 20,700 crore. These include the New Sanand (N)-New Makarpura, New Umbergaon-New Saphale and New Saphale-New JNPT sections.
At around 5.45 p.m., PM Modi will inaugurate the Global Fintech Fest (GFF) 2026 in Mumbai and address the gathering.
