Mangaluru: Congress leader and Billava community figure Padmaraj Poojary on Monday visited Odilnal village in Belthangady taluk to console the family of a Class 9 student who died under unnatural circumstances.
The student, Sumanth, was a Class 9 student of Government High School, Gerukatte. He was the son of Subrahmanya Nayak, a resident of Baramelu in Odilnal village. His sudden death has left the family and the local community in shock.

Poojary met the bereaved parents and family members at their residence and expressed his condolences. He assured them of all possible support during this difficult time. Local leaders Harish, Jagadish Koila and Damodar Poojary accompanied him during the visit.
Padmaraj Poojary, who is actively involved in social service through the ‘Guru Beladingalu’ initiative, has earlier extended assistance to several families affected by tragedies, including the family of Praveen Nettaru.
The incident has drawn attention to the need for greater sensitivity and support for families facing such sudden losses, residents said.
