Bengaluru: The launch of direct flights between Bengaluru and Zurich by Swiss International Air Lines is set to strengthen Karnataka’s global connectivity and open up fresh opportunities for investment, industries minister M.B. Patil said.

Patil made the remarks after attending a dinner meeting with Swiss Ambassador to India and Bhutan Maya Tissafi to mark the commencement of the service. He said the direct connection would facilitate cooperation between Karnataka and Switzerland in trade, investment, tourism and technology.

Noting that more than 50 Swiss companies operate in India, Patil briefed the ambassador on investment opportunities in Karnataka, particularly in high-precision machine tools and artificial intelligence (AI). He also discussed the state government’s proposed Twin City project.

Patil said Swiss companies had been invited to participate in the Global Investors Meet (GIM) 2027, which is expected to provide a platform for exploring further investment opportunities.

Minister Priyank Kharge and senior officials from the Industries Department and the state government attended the meeting.
