New Delhi, Sep 1 (IANS) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President Nitin Nabin called on President Droupadi Murmu at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday.
The BJP president termed it a courtesy visit and said that her guidance provides leaders across the political spectrum, including him, with renewed energy and inspiration to serve the nation for the upliftment of society.
Nabin, taking to his X handle, wrote, “Today, I paid a courtesy visit to the esteemed President Smt. Droupadi Murmu Ji. Her natural demeanour and unwavering dedication to serving the nation teach us a great deal. Her guidance provides us with renewed energy and inspiration to continuously work for the upliftment of the country and society.”
The BJP chief, during the meet, also greeted the President with a customary flower bouquet and shawl.
Nabin’s meeting with President Murmu, the first tribal woman President of the country, comes at a time when there is heated debate over introducing reforms in the caste reservations and realigning them on the basis of economic standing of citizens.
Nabin, after being elected to the Rajya Sabha in April this year, showered praise on President Droupadi Murmu for her inspiring journey and saluted her rise from a tribal background to India’s highest constitutional authority.
Nabin, speaking at an event in Telangana recently, said that President Murmu’s life and achievements send a strong message to both the nation and the world about India’s commitment to honour its tribal citizens.
“It is significant that a woman from the tribal community, whose life has been defined by struggles, has been accorded the honour of serving as the first citizen and President of the nation,” he said.
He further stated that the nation’s first citizen faced immense struggle in her life, fought for social causes and then reached the country’s highest office.
“Her elevation to the highest office shows the country and its citizens bow in reverence to the struggles of tribal brothers as well as sisters and honour their dignity,” he added.
