
New Delhi, June 2 (IANS) A series of violent incidents over 24 hours in northeast Delhi’s New Usmanpur area has triggered concern over the law and order situation, after two separate murders and a firing incident were reported from the locality on Tuesday.
Police said investigations are underway in all three cases, and multiple teams have been deployed to trace those involved.
The incidents include the fatal stabbing of a 17-year-old boy, the recovery of the body of a 26-year-old man with stab injuries, and a firing incident in which a 12-year-old boy sustained a bullet injury to his leg.
In the 17-year-old’s murder case, Delhi Police said the stabbing incident was solved within hours by a dedicated team from New Usmanpur police station.
Acting swiftly, police said a dedicated team solved the case within hours and arrested/apprehended three persons, including two Children in Conflict with Law (CCLs).
The accused have been identified as Nikki (21) and two juveniles aged 17 years. During the examination, they allegedly admitted to the crime and disclosed that they had an issue with the deceased. Police further stated that the victim and the accused belonged to the same community. Further investigation into the case is underway.
In a separate incident reported on Tuesday morning, police recovered the body of a 26-year-old man, identified as Lalit, from Bhagat Singh Colony in the Brahmpuri area. Police said they received information, following which a team reached the spot and found the victim lying on the road with stab injuries.
Officials said Lalit was allegedly murdered, and a forensic team was called to the scene to collect evidence.
A case under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered, and multiple teams have been formed to trace the accused. Investigators are examining CCTV footage, forensic inputs and other leads.
In a third incident on the evening of June 1, miscreants allegedly opened fire in the Fourth Pushta area of New Usmanpur. During the firing, a 12-year-old boy who was passing through the area sustained a bullet injury to his leg. Police said two accused have been arrested in the case, while efforts are on to nab a third suspect.
Police said all three cases are being investigated simultaneously. Further investigation is in progress.
