
Bengaluru, Aug 6 (IANS) Two young women from Nepal were found hanging from a tree in Bengaluru’s Yelahanka area in the early hours of Wednesday, police said.
The deceased have been identified as Sirijana (24), daughter of Johare, and Rita (24), daughter of Kamal Singh, both natives of Nepal.
According to preliminary information, the two women had arrived in Bengaluru from Nepal about a month ago and were staying at the residence of Sirijana’s brother in Yelahanka.
The incident came to light at around in the morning, when the women were found hanging from a tree opposite Kisar Hotel in Shivanahalli on Jakkur Road, within the jurisdiction of the Yelahanka Police Station.
Yelahanka police visited the spot and conducted a preliminary inspection.
The exact reason behind the suspected suicide is yet to be ascertained. Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the deaths.
Further investigation is underway.
It may be recalled that on July 11, 2026, four members of a family were found dead in Kottigepalya, Bengaluru, in a suspected triple murder-suicide. Police reported that 34-year-old Prashanth allegedly attacked his three family members before dying by suicide.
The incident was reported from Kottigepalya, under the Kamakshipalya police station limits.
Authorities reported that the three victims sustained fatal injuries caused by a sharp object, and Prashanth was later found deceased in a separate room.
Preliminary investigations by the Kamakshipalya Police Station indicate that Prashanth may have been suffering from mental health issues.
