Patna, June 5 (IANS) Two minors were killed after a tractor loaded with clay lost control, overturned and caught fire in Bihar’s Kaimur district, police said on Friday.

The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of Chainpur Police Station, where local police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.

According to local residents, the speeding tractor was transporting clay from Kharauda when it allegedly went out of control between Kharauda and Naughara.

The vehicle overturned into a narrow roadside ditch, where it became wedged with all four wheels facing upwards.

During the accident, a suspected short circuit is believed to have ignited the tractor, causing it to catch fire.

The two minors, who were trapped beneath the overturned vehicle, suffered severe burn injuries and died at the scene before they could be rescued.

Local authorities have confirmed that both victims have been identified, although their names have not been officially disclosed.

Villagers said the accident took place at around 6.30 p.m. on Friday.

Due to the narrow location where the tractor overturned, rescue operations proved difficult.

After receiving information about the incident, personnel from the ‘112’ emergency response service reached the spot and began efforts to recover the vehicle.

A JCB machine was brought in to assist in lifting and removing the overturned tractor.

Confirming the incident, Vijay Prasad, SHO of Chainpur Police Station, said police had received information that two people were trapped beneath a tractor involved in an accident.

According to the SHO, a police team was immediately dispatched to the scene, and arrangements were made to bring in heavy machinery because the vehicle was lodged in a very narrow space.

Authorities are currently investigating the exact cause of the accident, including the circumstances that led to the tractor losing control and the subsequent fire.

Further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
