Mumbai, August 5 (IANS) Television star Shivangi Joshi opened up about battling facial acne and skin issues throughout her life, on the reality show, Lock Upp.
The actress stated that she understands how deeply appearance-related comments can affect a person.
During a conversation with Ram Kapoor on Yogesh, Shivangi addressed the controversy surrounding fellow contestant Shreya Kalra, who had earlier repeatedly called Shivangi as “Annabelle”, a reference to the haunted doll from the horror film franchise.
Responding to the comment, Shivangi said Shreya calling her Annabelle so many times had hurt her.
She went on to explain why she had empathised with Shreya when the latter developed an allergy on her face.
“When Shreya got an allergy on her face, I tried my best to make her feel comfortable. Somebody who knows how insecure you are about your face… I have had this acne and all these skin problems all my life. I know how insecure I am about all these things,” Shivangi said.
The actress added that she could relate to anyone struggling with facial insecurities.
“So, I can understand if someone is going through something and feels like, ‘I don’t want to show my face.’ Then people make fun of my face and my make-up. It’s so hurtful,” she said.
Shivangi further also took offence to remarks allegedly made about television daily soaps by Shreya and Shilpa, saying she did not understand why working in daily soaps was looked down upon.
“Even when they were talking about Harshad and daily soap acting, I was like, ‘Is doing daily soaps a bad thing?’ You are also from daily soaps,” she said, before adding that Shreya had herself admitted to giving many auditions but in vain.
For the uninitiated, Shivangi Joshi who, a few years ago, was a part of the iconic show Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, faced trolling online for visible acne marks on her face during many episodes.
