Udupi/Byndoor: In a remarkable turnaround, Shiroor Government Pre-University College has recorded a sharp rise in SSLC results, with the pass percentage soaring from 35% last year to 94% this year.

The turnaround has been attributed to sustained efforts by teachers and close monitoring by Byndoor MLA Gururaj Gantihole. School authorities said focused academic interventions and continuous mentoring played a key role in the improved performance.

Principal’s dedication drives turnaround

Principal Jayanti is said to have led the effort with extraordinary commitment. She reportedly stayed near the school, conducted special classes day and night, and closely guided students to improve outcomes.

Teachers organised additional sessions, monitored student progress and ensured discipline—factors that contributed significantly to the results.

Emotional tribute steals the show

At a programme held after the results were announced, an emotional moment drew attention when Gururaj Gantihole publicly acknowledged the teachers’ efforts by bowing at the principal’s feet, paying tribute to their dedication and sacrifice.

School officials said the achievement underlines how sustained effort, discipline and cooperation between educators and public representatives can transform outcomes in government schools.
