New Delhi, June 30 (IANS) Punjab Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Kewal Singh Dhillon on Tuesday called on Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari and held detailed discussions on key issues related to the state’s development and infrastructure.
During the meeting, Dhillon thanked the Central government and Union Minister Gadkari for the ongoing national highway and other development projects in Punjab. He said the Central government is continuously working on a large scale to strengthen Punjab’s road infrastructure.
On the occasion, Union Minister Gadkari stated that under the Bharatmala Project, the Central government is building a vast network of modern highways and expressways across the country.
As part of this initiative, the Jamnagar-Amritsar Economic Corridor is also being developed, connecting Punjab with major commercial hubs in Rajasthan and Gujarat.
He said these projects will not only improve transportation but also provide a major boost to industry, trade, employment, and economic growth, from which Punjab will significantly benefit.
State BJP chief Dhillon said that all road projects in Punjab are being developed through central funding, reflecting the Central government’s visionary approach and commitment.
He said that instead of undertaking any major development work on its own, the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab is merely trying to claim credit through advertisements.
He further stated that the BJP-led Central government remains fully committed to the holistic development of Punjab.
He added that if a BJP “double-engine” government is formed in Punjab in 2027, the pace of development will accelerate further, and the state will benefit from several major infrastructure projects.
Earlier this month, Dhillon had called on party President Nitin Nabin here and expressed gratitude for entrusting him with the leadership role in the state and assured him of working in coordination with party leaders.
He expressed his gratitude to the BJP President, Nabin, for entrusting him with the leadership of the party’s Punjab unit and assured him that he would bring along every section of the party and work in close coordination with state leaders, office-bearers, and workers.
