Bhopal, April 9 (IANS) Madhya Pradesh’s Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Prahlad Singh Patel on Thursday urged newly appointed Chief Executive Officers (Janpad Panchayat) and Block Development Officers (BDOs) to adopt a result-oriented approach in rural governance.
The Minister stressed that their primary focus should be on delivering tangible and measurable improvements in the lives of the people.
He was addressing the valedictory ceremony of a 45-day orientation training programme at the Madhya Pradesh Water and Land Management Institute in Bhopal, where he attended as the chief guest.
During an interactive session, Minister Patel also reviewed the officers’ areas of posting, their action plans and the challenges they expect to face.
He emphasised that governance at the grassroots level requires clarity of objectives, proper planning and coordinated teamwork.
“Officers must assess their work by the positive changes it brings to citizens’ lives. Personal satisfaction should come from delivering real outcomes on the ground,” Patel said.
He highlighted that continuous dialogue within the administration and with the public is essential for ensuring transparency and improving efficiency.
Encouraging the officers to stay engaged, he said that regular communication helps in identifying issues early and finding practical solutions.
The Minister also said that while confidence is important, aligning responsibilities with individual capabilities leads to better performance.
He called upon the officers to work with commitment over the next few years and build a strong administrative foundation in their respective blocks.
Officers, who completed the training, said that the programme provided exposure to administrative systems, government schemes and field realities.
They said visits to different regions helped them understand grassroots challenges and refine their approach to implementation.
The programme concluded with the felicitation of the officers by Minister Patel, who extended his best wishes for their future roles in strengthening rural development in Madhya Pradesh, according to a statement from the state government.
Additional Chief Secretary Deepali Rastogi and other senior officials of the Panchayat and Rural Development Department were also present at the event.
