Indore, Sep 10 (IANS) A 32-year-old beautician was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a hotel room here, while the man who had accompanied her allegedly disappeared after taking her to a hospital, police said on Thursday.

The deceased, identified as Sonali Sharma, a resident of Sundar Nagar, was found lying on the bed at a hotel located in the Tilak Nagar area of the city with foam coming from her mouth.

Police suspect poisoning, but the exact cause of her death will be known only after a post-mortem examination.

According to police, Sonali had checked into the hotel with pipe trader Deepak Khandelwal around 2 p.m. on Wednesday. A few hours later, Khandelwal approached the hotel staff and said that Sonali had fallen ill and needed medical attention.

He then took her to Akshat Hospital, where doctors declared her dead.

Khandelwal allegedly left the hospital afterwards and has not been traced, police said.

“Poisoning is suspected as foam was found coming from her mouth, but the exact cause of death will be established after the post-mortem examination,” Tilak Nagar SHO Manish Lodha said.

Police said Sonali’s father told them that she worked at Pink City Parlour, where she had met Khandelwal. Sonali had left home on Wednesday, telling her family that she was going to the parlour, after which she went to the hotel with Khandelwal, police said.

She had been living separately from her husband for around a year. Her husband, a driver from Biaora, was unemployed, according to police. The couple had two daughters, aged eight and 14.

“The hotel’s CCTV footage has been seized and is being examined. We are searching for Khandelwal for questioning to ascertain the circumstances leading to Sonali’s death,” Lodha said.

The woman’s body has been sent to MY Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Police are examining the CCTV footage and other evidence to establish what happened inside the hotel room and determine whether there was any foul play.
