Bengaluru: MLC Dr. Ravi C.T. has urged Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar to implement the revised minimum wages for Gram Panchayat employees in accordance with the Labour Department’s notification issued on May 22, 2026.
In a letter dated October 8, Ravi sought immediate action to ensure that eligible employees receive the benefits of the revised wages. He highlighted the difficulties faced by staff due to the delay, stating that the non-implementation of the notification had led to dissatisfaction among employees.
He has also written to the Additional Chief Secretary, questioning why minimum wages were paid for two months before being withheld subsequently.

Ravi questioned how the government could expect private establishments to comply with labour regulations if its own departments failed to implement official orders. He urged the government to obtain the necessary Finance Department approval and ensure payment of minimum wages in accordance with the Labour Department’s notification.
Employees plan padayatra on October 12
According to the letter, thousands of Gram Panchayat employees across Karnataka are dissatisfied over the delay in implementing minimum wages. They plan to undertake a padayatra from Siddaganga Mutt to Bengaluru on October 12 to press for their demands.
Ravi said the government should recognise the services rendered by Gram Panchayat employees and ensure they receive the wages due to them. He called for swift action to secure the required financial approval and implement the minimum wage notification.
