MANGALURU: In a move aimed at boosting coastal development, the Karnataka government has approved the establishment of a commercial office tech park near Blueberry Hills in Derebail on the outskirts of Mangaluru. The project will be developed under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model and is expected to generate thousands of jobs for local youth.
According to KPCC general secretary Padmaraj R. Poojary, the state cabinet has cleared the proposal to develop 3.285 acres of land at Survey Nos. 129 and 113 on Blueberry Hills Road, Derebail, Mangaluru taluk, Dakshina Kannada district. The project will follow the Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) model under PPP.
“This tech park will provide employment opportunities to thousands of people in the coastal region,” Poojary said in a media statement. He lauded the initiative as a significant step toward decentralizing IT growth beyond Bengaluru.
Poojary also thanked Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, and IT and BT Minister Priyanka Kharge for their efforts in facilitating the project.
The upcoming tech park is expected to enhance the region’s commercial infrastructure and attract new investments to the coastal belt.
