Mangaluru: The third edition of the state-level Mangalore Dasara Marathon 2025, organised as part of the Kudroli Sri Gokarnanath temple’s Dasara celebrations, saw an overwhelming response on Sunday with over 2,000 runners hitting the streets. The event was jointly hosted by Juice Fitness Club and Union Bank.

Participants from across Karnataka and neighbouring Kerala competed in four categories — 21K, 10K, 5K and 2K sari run — with separate races for men and women.


Mangaluru Police Commissioner Sudhir Kumar Reddy flagged off the marathon. Dignitaries including Union Bank’s regional head Narasimha Kumar, zone head Tejaswini V.C., Kudroli Area Development Committee president Jairaj H. Somasundaram and fitness club representative Rajesh Patali were present.

Prize money of ₹25,000, ₹15,000 and ₹10,000 was awarded to the top three finishers in the 21K race, while the 10K winners took home ₹15,000, ₹10,000 and ₹5,000. The 5K run carried prizes of ₹5,000, ₹2,000 and ₹1,000.

The marathon added a sporting edge to the ongoing Mangalore Dasara festivities, already drawing huge crowds for its cultural and religious celebrations.
