According to the circular, if a Guardian Minister or Cabinet Minister is unable to attend due to unavoidable circumstances, the Divisional Commissioner will lead the ceremony at divisional headquarters, while the District Collector will hoist the flag at district headquarters.
The allocation of flag-hoisting duties in Raigad comes amid an ongoing impasse within the MahaYuti alliance over the district’s guardian minister post.
While Aditi Tatkare (NCP) currently holds the Guardian Minister portfolio, Bharat Gogawale (Shiv Sena) has actively sought the position.
The assignment of Gogawale to lead the district’s Independence Day flag hoisting led to speculation regarding a shift in the local portfolio.
However, officials note that the list pertains strictly to the August 15 ceremonial arrangements, and no formal decision or notification regarding changes to the Guardian Minister post has been issued.
