Bhopal, Sep 15 (IANS) The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, in its meeting held on Tuesday, approved development schemes amounting to approximately Rs 42,490 crore aimed at strengthening infrastructure and boosting public welfare across the state.
Minister of State for Public Health Department Narendra Shivaji Patel shared the details after the meeting. The approvals include over Rs 6,000 crore to ensure the continuity of the ‘Samagra Shiksha’ (holistic education) scheme. The Transport Department received sanctions of Rs 1,166 crore for 11 schemes, while the Horticulture Department was allocated Rs 491 crore for eight schemes.
Approval was also granted to continue major irrigation projects worth about Rs 13,000 crore, including the Chanderi micro project in Ashoknagar, the Gond major irrigation project in Singrauli, and the “Chetavat” major irrigation project in Ujjain.
New posts have been sanctioned for establishing district mineral offices in the newly formed districts of Maihar, Mauganj and Pandhurna, which is expected to generate government employment opportunities for the state’s youth. Additional posts were also approved in connection with the upgrading of schools.
The Cabinet further passed proposals to make credit limits for the 2024-25 financial year interest-free.
Patel informed that the ‘Mukhyamantri Sugam Parivahan Bus Seva’ (Chief Minister’s Accessible Transport Bus Service) will be launched on September 25, 2026, coinciding with the birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav, the government is reviving the state bus service that had remained stalled for 21 years.
The initiative will develop around 150 city routes, 450 inter-city routes and 436 inter-state routes. A target has been set to connect 75 per cent of the development blocks with transport services by 2030, with special focus on expanding the network into rural areas.
A major step forward is being taken under the SVAMITVA scheme, originally launched by the Union government. From September 17 — the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi — the Madhya Pradesh government will begin the process of executing and registering ownership rights records for rural citizens, with an expenditure of approximately Rs 4,000 crore.
Rural beneficiaries will be fully exempted from stamp duty and registration fees. Nearly 68 lakh records have already been prepared, and free registration will be carried out for about 50 lakh private properties. This is expected to strengthen ownership rights, ease access to bank loans, boost trade, employment and self-employment opportunities, reduce property disputes and improve record-keeping. Special camps will be organised at the Panchayat level.
The minister also informed that Chief Minister Mohan Yadav’s recent visit to Dubai yielded investment commitments exceeding Rs 53,000 crore. He held discussions with over 200 industrialists, investors and entrepreneurs and extended invitations to representatives from 22 countries for the Global Investors Summit scheduled in 2027.
The Cabinet also congratulated Indian sports teams for recent successes: the women’s cricket team for winning the Asia Cup, the junior women’s hockey team for defeating China, and the junior men’s hockey team for defeating Korea. Players from Madhya Pradesh featured in these squads. Gratitude was expressed to the Prime Minister for inaugurating the rail section between Jobat and Tada Road under the Udaipur–Chhota Udepur–Dhar project, which has provided a direct rail link between Dhar district and Gujarat, the minister further said.
On September 19, the Chief Minister will distribute e-scooters to more than 7,500 meritorious Class 12 students under the Chief Minister E-Scooty Scheme. Over 23,000 students have already benefited from the scheme, on which the government has spent about Rs 50 crore. Heartfelt greetings were also extended to all citizens for Ganesh Utsav and Praveshan Parv, he said.
