Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday expressed happiness over Karnataka’s remarkable achievement after the London Book of World Records certified two historic world records for the state.

Taking to social media, the CM announced that Karnataka has entered the global stage with the success of its Shakti scheme and the consistent performance of the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC).

“Karnataka enters the global stage with two historic world records – certified by the London Book of World Records,” Siddaramaiah wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “The Shakti scheme has enabled women to avail the largest number of free bus rides — 564.10 crore journeys, empowering everyday mobility.”

He further highlighted that KSRTC has become the world’s most awarded road transport corporation, with 464 national and international honours since 1997.

“The vision of our administration is rooted in social justice, women’s empowerment, and world-class public service. These recognitions reflect what inclusive and compassionate policymaking can achieve,” the CM added.

The Shakti scheme, launched in June 2023, offers free bus travel to women across Karnataka in state-run transport services, and has been hailed as a landmark step in promoting women’s mobility and economic independence.
