Hubballi: In a significant recognition of its academic excellence, Karnataka State Law University (KSLU) has been awarded an ‘A’ grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The honour marks a major milestone for the state-run university, headquartered in Navanagar, Hubballi.
The NAAC peer team conducted its inspection in May, evaluating the university’s performance across key parameters, including curriculum, teaching, research, examination systems, infrastructure, and extracurricular activities. The assessment was carried out in hybrid mode, with part of the expert panel joining the visit offline and others participating online.
The inspection team included NAAC President Dr. Nishita Jala and members Dr. K. Jayachandra Reddy, Dr. Jayashankar K. I., Dr. Subhir Kumar Roy, Dr. Dharmendra Kumar Mishra, Dr. Thenumoji Ramanujam, and Dr. Jagannath Patil. The team expressed satisfaction with the university’s facilities and academic environment.
KSLU, which has been imparting legal education for the past 15 years, currently has 128 affiliated law colleges under its fold. The ‘A’ grade accreditation has been welcomed by academicians and legal education experts, who see it as a boost to the university’s standing and credibility.
‘Hard Work Pays Off’: Speaking on the achievement, KSLU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Basavaraju credited the faculty, staff, and students for the accomplishment. “This is the result of collective effort. Our goal now is to work towards securing an even higher grade in the next cycle,” he said.
He also noted that the university has undertaken significant reforms post-Covid, including rectifying academic calendar delays and streamlining the examination process. “With continued support from the government, we aim to enhance the quality of legal education further,” he added.
