
Srinagar June 28 (IANS) The Kashmir Champions Football League (KCFL), organised by Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council, moved a step closer to the knockout phase on Sunday with another exciting day of football, highlighted by a closely contested draw and an enthusiastic turnout of spectators.
The day’s opening fixture saw Ganderbal United and Baramulla Strikers battle to a hard-fought 1-1 draw in an evenly contested encounter. Kamran Hamid found the back of the net for Baramulla Strikers, while Sahil Ajaz struck the equaliser for Ganderbal United, ensuring both teams shared the points after an entertaining contest.
The second fixture of the day was played between Kulgam Avengers and Anantnag.
The Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council expressed satisfaction over the overwhelming response received throughout the group stage, with enthusiastic spectators turning out in large numbers every evening to support their favourite teams.
The growing attendance reflects the increasing popularity of the league and the renewed passion for football across the region.
With the group stage in last phase now, the tournament inching closer to move into its next phase, promising more intense competition as teams vie for a place in the latter stages.
The action resumes on Monday, with Srinagar United taking on Bandipora Blasters in what promises to be another exciting and last encounter of group stage. The match is scheduled to kick off at 6:00 PM.
