Bengaluru: A delegation from the Bangalore Apartments’ Federation (BAF) met Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot and briefed him on the proposed Karnataka Apartment Ownership and Management Act (KAOMA) 2026.
During the meeting, the delegation outlined the key provisions and salient features of the proposed legislation, which seeks to establish a dedicated legal framework for apartment ownership and management in Karnataka.
BAF said the proposed KAOMA 2026 could provide a comprehensive framework covering several aspects of apartment communities, including ownership rights, management of common areas, association governance, community administration and conveyance.
The federation also highlighted provisions relating to the protection of apartment owners and redevelopment within apartment communities, describing these as important components of a modern framework for the state’s rapidly expanding apartment sector.
According to BAF, one of the key strengths of the proposed legislation is its attempt to bring various legal and administrative aspects of apartment ownership and management under a single, dedicated framework.
The delegation thanked Governor Gehlot for giving them an opportunity to discuss the proposed legislation and place their views before him.
BAF said it considers KAOMA 2026 an important step towards addressing the evolving requirements of apartment owners and resident communities in Karnataka and creating greater clarity in the governance and management of apartment properties.
