Jammu, July 3 (IANS) The Northern Railway officials said on Friday that the Jammu railway station is fully decked up to welcome the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY) Yatris.

A statement issued by Raghvender Singh, Public Relations Inspector (Jammu division), said, “The Jammu Division of Northern Railway is fully dedicated to serving the devotees eager for the darshan of Baba Barfani.”

“With the commencement of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2026, Jammu Tawi Railway Station is fully decked up to welcome lakhs of Lord Shiva devotees arriving from across the country. Unprecedented special arrangements have been made at the station by the divisional administration to ensure a safe, smooth, and memorable journey.”

The official said that on Friday, Jammu’s Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Uchit Singhal, along with a team of commercial and operating officers, conducted an extensive inspection of Jammu Tawi Railway Station.

The main objective of the inspection was to assess the ground reality of the facilities being provided to devotees during Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra and to further strengthen the arrangements.

A large, airy, and fully shaded passenger holding area has been developed in the station premises for passengers undertaking the yatra.

Arrangements have been made in this area for hundreds of passengers to sit together, with lighting, fans, coolers, and drinking water facilities.

Special attention has been paid to cleanliness, with housekeeping staff deployed 24×7.

Along with this, keeping in view the summer season and the crowd, quick watering arrangements and staff have been deployed on platforms so that water can be filled in every train on time and passengers do not face any inconvenience.

A 24×7 help desk is operational at the station here, along with railway staff, scouts and guides are also providing passengers with train schedules, platform information, medical assistance, and other necessary guidance.

For crowd control and smooth passenger movement during the yatra period, a senior railway supervisor has been deployed at the station 24×7.

Additionally, extra ticket checking staff, commercial staff, and Railway Protection Force personnel are continuously monitoring the platforms.

Special surveillance has also been arranged through CCTV cameras at the railway station and premises, and in view of security, railway staff are monitoring 24 hours in the war room.

Additional force members have also been deployed considering the security.

The platform numbers 4 and 5 of the Jammu Railway Station have been commissioned for train operations.

“Today, Train No. 13152 was operated from the new platform. For the convenience of passengers, regular announcements are being made for information regarding trains and platforms.”

During the inspection, Jammu’s Senior Divisional Commercial Manager instructed all departments to work in mutual coordination and to behave politely with the devotees.

The divisional railway administration has requested all Amarnath pilgrims to ensure registration before their journey, purchase tickets only from authorised ticket counters, do not accept food or drinks from strangers, do not crowd unnecessarily on the platforms, and contact the help desk or Rail Madad Helpline ‘139’ for any kind of assistance.

“The Northern Railway’s Jammu Division wishes all devotees of Baba Amarnath a pleasant, auspicious, and safe journey,” the statement said.
