Hyderabad, April 4 (IANS) Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will return to familiar surroundings as they take on Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in the opening fixture of the double-header on Sunday at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026.

The home side heads into the contest with momentum on their side after registering their first victory of the season in emphatic fashion. They outplayed Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 65 runs, becoming the first team this year to successfully defend a total thus far. A strong batting effort saw them pile up 226, powered by impactful knocks from Heinrich Klaasen, Abhishek Sharma, and Travis Head.

Their bowlers then delivered a clinical performance to seal the win, dismissing KKR for 161 inside 16 overs. Jaydev Unadkat led the charge with a three-wicket haul, while Eshan Malinga and Nitish Kumar Reddy provided crucial support with two wickets apiece.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), meanwhile, will be eager to bounce back after a disappointing start to their campaign. Playing at home, they struggled for fluency against the Delhi Capitals (DC) and were bowled out for a modest 141. The target proved insufficient as Delhi chased it down comfortably, thanks largely to Sameer Rizvi’s unbeaten 70, handing LSG a six-wicket defeat.

With Hyderabad riding high on confidence and Lucknow searching for an early turnaround, Sunday’s clash promises an intriguing contest between two sides at contrasting stages of their season.
