London: India’s Republic Day was celebrated in the heart of London on British soil, as non-resident Indians gathered to mark the 76th anniversary of India’s constitution. The event took place at London’s iconic Town Hall, where a vibrant tricolor salute was offered in honor of the occasion.
Dr. Neeraj Patil, the former Mayor of London, shared the celebrations, commending the efforts of the Coventry Labour Party for organizing the event. “We commend the Coventry Labour Party for their efforts in celebrating the 76th Republic Day at the town hall,” Patil remarked.
The event highlighted the enduring connection between India and its diaspora in the United Kingdom. Dr. Patil also expressed the sentiments of the gathering, saying, “You can take British Indians out of India, but you cannot take India out of British Indians,” emphasizing the strong cultural ties that continue to bind both nations.
The celebration concluded with a heartfelt message: “May God bless Great Britain and India,” reflecting the shared hope for a prosperous future between the two nations.
