New Delhi: In response to the escalating threat of piracy in the Arabian Sea and Red Sea, the armed forces of India and France have announced plans to bolster cooperation in the maritime domain.
The Ministry of Defence disclosed that the collaboration between the Indian Navy and French Navy will encompass various aspects, including operational training and exchanges of subject matter experts (SMEs).
A two-day dialogue, the 17th Indian Navy and French Navy staff talks, convened in Delhi, co-chaired by RAdm Nirbhay Bapna, ACNS (FCI), and RAdm Jean Marc Durandau, Director of International Engagements, French Navy.
Key discussions during the meeting focused on operational training, SME exchanges, and other pertinent matters. Both sides acknowledged the increasing collaboration between their navies and pledged to enhance cooperation and interoperability in the maritime sphere.
In a notable interaction on the sidelines of the talks, Jean Marc Durandau met with VAdm Tarun Sobti, Deputy Chief of Naval Staff, emphasizing the remarkable synergy and interoperability existing between the two forces. This reaffirms the commitment of India and France to safeguarding maritime security and stability in the region.
