New Delhi: State-owned Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have reduced the price of 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders by more than ₹200, with the revised rates coming into effect from August 1. The price cut is expected to provide relief to hotels, restaurants and other commercial establishments that depend on LPG.
Under the revised rates, the price of a commercial LPG cylinder has been reduced by ₹202 in Delhi and ₹209 in Kolkata, bringing the retail price in Kolkata to ₹2,872.50. However, there has been no change in the price of 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinders, which will continue to be sold at existing rates.
This is the second consecutive monthly reduction in commercial LPG prices. While geopolitical tensions in West Asia had earlier pushed up global fuel prices, improved supply conditions have enabled OMCs to reduce commercial LPG rates. In July, commercial LPG cylinder prices had also been lowered.
The government had earlier prioritised domestic LPG supplies during supply disruptions and temporarily restricted commercial and industrial LPG allocations. As supply conditions improved, restrictions were gradually eased and normal supplies restored, paving the way for the latest price reduction.
