New Delhi, Sep 17 (IANS) Brahmavihari Swami, Head of International Relations at BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha, wished Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his 76th birthday and said that he has enhanced India’s standing in the world.
Brahmavihari Swami said, “As we celebrate the 76th birthday of our beloved Prime Minister Narendra Modi, it is also a time to mark 25 years of his public life. I remember him from his younger days, when he was a simple worker. Since 1981, he used to go to his holiness Param Pujya Pramukh Swami Maharaj, whom he considered like his own father.”
“Swami Shri guided him through social services and moral and ethical responsibilities. Prime Minister Modi would often discuss things with him and come to seek his blessings. When he took the oath as the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Pramukh Swami Maharaj blessed him and I happened to be there.”
He added that Pramukh Swami Maharaj often told PM Modi that “till his last breath, there is only one thing in life, that is to serve, serve selflessly, to serve ceaselessly.”
He highlighted that he is proud that PM Modi has led the country to greater heights, to greater development for all the people of different religious denominations, and at the same time for the world at large.
He highlighted that leaders aren’t those who force their thoughts onto others but those who absorb the thoughts of others, others’ greatness, to become great themselves.
He expressed that the Prime Minister may continue to lead the country in the years ahead. True leaders become great by taking everyone forward together. “On behalf of BAPS and myself, I extend my warmest wishes to Prime Minister Modi,” he said.
Bramavihari Swami is one of the highest monks within the BAPS institute and a global spokesperson for the BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha. He was raised in Leicester, United Kingdom, after being born to Gujarati immigrant parents.
