Naraingarh, July 1 (IANS) Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Wednesday dedicated 325 Amrit Sarovars and 70 advanced life support ambulances to the people while inaugurating and laying the foundation stone of development projects of over Rs 337 crore at a function in Naraingarh, his Assembly seat in Ambala district.

The projects include seven major healthcare initiatives of Rs 114 crore, while 325 Amrit Sarovars, constructed at a cost of Rs 223 crore, were also inaugurated.

Addressing the gathering, CM Saini said the occasion was historic not only for Naraingarh but for the entire state, as the inauguration and foundation laying of projects of over Rs 337 crore marked another important step towards realising the vision of a “Swasth, Samriddh aur Viksit Haryana”.

Earlier on National Doctors’ Day, the Chief Minister extended greetings to doctors, nurses, paramedical staff, ASHA workers and all healthcare personnel. He also paid tribute to eminent physician, freedom fighter and statesman Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy, recalling his belief that “healthy citizens are the greatest strength of a strong nation”.

Listing key projects executed in the constituency, he said the Yamunanagar-Panchkula National Highway-73 had been constructed at a cost of Rs 1,112 crore. Other completed works include the Government Women’s College at Baragarh, the Fatehgarh-Raiwali road and bridge, the Naraingarh four-lane road, the Raiwali road and a modern sports stadium.

CM Saini also inaugurated a 50-bed hospital block, built at a cost of nearly Rs 32 crore, taking the capacity of the Civil Hospital to 100 beds. A Block Public Health Unit, built at an estimated cost of Rs 50 lakh, was inaugurated to strengthen healthcare services at the local level.

The Chief Minister said this year’s state Budget had announced a new Government Polytechnic Institute for Narayangarh. He said 10 new Industrial Model Townships (IMTs) are being established in Haryana, including IMT Ambala-Naraingarh.

Highlighting welfare initiatives, CM Saini said under the Deendayal Lado Lakshmi Yojana, nearly 10 lakh women had received financial assistance of Rs 1,415 crore, with eligible beneficiaries receiving Rs 2,100 per month.

The Chief Minister said Haryana has been procuring all 24 notified crops at the minimum support price (MSP). So far, Rs 1.80 lakh crore has been transferred directly into the bank accounts of 12 lakh farmers. He said farmers had received Rs 16,530 crore over the past 11-and-a-half years towards crop loss compensation and under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, compared to Rs 1,138 crore during the Congress government’s tenure.

He said the government had cleared Rs 269 crore in pending compensation liabilities left by the previous Congress government after assuming office in 2014.

Referring to measures against agricultural fraud, CM Saini said the government had enacted a stringent law providing for up to five years’ imprisonment for the sale of fake fertilisers, seeds and pesticides. He said 46 crops had been brought under the Mukhyamantri Bagwani Bima Yojana (MBBY), under which 157 farmers had so far received Rs 1.40 crore in assistance.
