Ranchi, Sep 17 (IANS) The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday carried out raids in several states in connection with its probe into the petrol bomb attack on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) office in Ranchi in June this year.
The agency conducted simultaneous searches at four locations in Delhi, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Karnataka to investigate suspected money laundering and financial transactions linked to the case.
According to officials, the action is connected to a case registered by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
ED teams searched premises associated with suspects at multiple locations. During the raids, investigators examined documents, digital devices, and evidence related to allegedly suspicious financial transactions.
The agency is looking into whether illegal funding or money laundering channels were used in planning or executing the attack.
The attack took place on the night of June 16, when petrol bombs were hurled at the RSS provincial headquarters located in Ranchi’s Nivaranpur area. The NIA has registered the case under RC-01/2026/NIA/RNC.
In the initial phase of the investigation, Ranchi police arrested three suspects. The NIA later took over the probe and began examining the alleged conspiracy behind the attack, the network of the accused, and possible interstate links.
In July, the agency said it was expanding the investigation by examining other individuals connected to the case as well as digital devices seized during the probe.
Investigators have also flagged the possibility of international links. Based on the questioning of the accused, various investigative reports have referred to alleged contacts with handlers based in Pakistan and other individuals.
However, officials have stressed that these claims can only be conclusively established after the investigation is completed.
The NIA had earlier conducted search operations in several states in connection with the case. Earlier this month, the agency carried out raids in Patna and reportedly recovered cash worth several lakh rupees.
With the ED’s latest action, the focus of the investigation has expanded to include the suspected financial network and funding sources that may have supported the attack.
