New Delhi, Sep 3 (IANS) In a step towards providing better civic amenities and enhanced public convenience to citizens, the NDMC has decided to extend the operating hours of 11 Public Toilet Utilities (PTUs) in Connaught Place up to midnight, Chairperson Manoj Kumar Dwivedi said on Thursday.

There are 23 public toilets in Connaught Place, out of which almost half or 11 PTUs, will, in the first phase, remain available to the public till midnight. The extended timings will come into effect from September 4, said the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) in a statement.

The NDMC Chairperson said that Connaught Place remains active and frequented by citizens, visitors and tourists till late hours and the extension in the operating time of the PTU has been granted with the aim of serving them.

“Keeping in view the requirements of people who visit and stay in Connaught Place during the evening and late-night hours, the NDMC has decided to extend the timings of 11 public toilets up to midnight from September 4. More public toilets will be brought under extended operating hours in due course,” he said.

The 11 identified public toilet facilities that will be available till midnight these are located at: S.B.S. Marg, Outer Circle, Connaught Place, Near E.S.S., Outer Circle, Connaught Place, Middle Circle, A Block, near RR-2, Middle Circle, K Block, between RR-4 & RR-5, Connaught Place, Middle Circle, E Block, between RR-7, Central Park, opposite D Block, Inner Circle, Connaught Place, Central Park, opposite F Block, Inner Circle, Connaught Place, Near Super Bazaar Parking, Outer Circle, Connaught Place, ECE House, Outer Circle, Connaught Place, Middle Circle, F Block, near RR-1, Panchkuian Road Chelmsford Road, Outer Circle, Connaught Place.

The NDMC Chairperson stated that the initiative to extend toilet timings in Connaught Place is aimed at ensuring that visitors and the general public have access to essential civic facilities during late evening and night hours.

The Council will also examine extending the facility to additional public toilets in a phased manner based on feedback, public requirements and operational feasibility.
