New Delhi, Sep 12 (IANS) The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has invited resident welfare associations (RWAs) and public representatives for consultations on various provisions of the Master Plan for Delhi 2047 (MPD 2047) on September 14, an official said on Saturday.
The “awareness and appraisal” programme on the notified MPD 2047 will be organised at DDA’s Vikas Sadan near INA under the direction by Lieutenant Governor and DDA Chairperson T.S. Sandhu for a wide stakeholder engagement.
Issuing an open invitation to RWAs, Federations of RWAs and Cooperative Group Housing Societies (CGHS), the DDA said, “The participation of residents and stakeholder organisations will help the DDA in creating greater awareness and facilitating the planned, inclusive and infrastructure-supported redevelopment of Delhi’s existing urban areas.”
The Master Plan for Delhi-2047 was notified by the Central government on August 20.
The MPD 2047 provides for the redevelopment of group housing complexes/schemes in the National Capital Territory of Delhi.
The MPD 2047 focuses on improving and redeveloping existing ageing areas/buildings to accommodate more people in a planned way, along with better water supply, sewerage, roads, open spaces and essential public facilities.
Earlier this week, the land-owning authority held stakeholder consultations with Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), Delhi Metro and other key government agencies and heritage conservation bodies on various provisions of the MPD 2047 for their effective implementation.
The interactions were part of a series of stakeholder consultations aimed at ensuring coordinated, effective and participatory implementation of MPD 2047, an official statement said.
The third stakeholder meeting was held on Thursday with conservation bodies, architects working in heritage conservation, Delhi Tourism, Archaeological Survey of India, School of Planning and Architecture, Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage, Department of Archaeology, Indraprastha Virasat Punarvikas Nigam (IVPN), MCD, Delhi Urban Art Commission (DUAC), Delhi Fire Service and Ministry of Culture.
The second meeting was attended by representatives of various government stakeholders and service-providing agencies, including the NDMC, MCD, Delhi Jal Board (DJB), Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC), the statement said.
The other stakeholders who attended the meeting included the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), Delhi Police and Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB).
In addition, representatives of various departments of the Government of NCT of Delhi (GNCTD), including the Public Works Department (PWD), Power Department, Land and Building Department, Fire Department and Irrigation and Flood Control Department, and Forest Department, also participated in the meeting, the statement said.
Representatives of other government agencies and organisations, including Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC), Central Public Works Department (CPWD) and Institute of Town Planners, India (ITPI), also participated in the meeting.
The first consultation was held earlier with public representatives — Members of Parliament and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Delhi, the statement said.
During these meetings, the DDA provided an overview of the major provisions of MPD 2047, which was followed by detailed discussions with the participating stakeholders on various aspects of implementation and coordination.
The discussions also provided an opportunity to address queries and bring greater clarity to the provisions of the Master Plan. Stakeholders shared their views, suggestions and feedback relating to the implementation of MPD 2047 and inter-departmental coordination, the statement said.
Around 20 such meetings have been planned over a three-month period, it said.
