New Delhi, Sep 8 (IANS) The Delhi Traffic Police on Tuesday urged citizens and cab service providers to go through the advisory issued for routes where movement will be restricted, in view of the upcoming BRICS Summit in the national capital.

Speaking to IANS, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Dinesh Kumar Gupta said: “The BRICS Summit will be held in India on September 11, 12 and 13. Delhi Traffic Police has its detailed traffic arrangements in place for this. We are conducting rehearsals under these arrangements.”

“These rehearsals give our staff some practice, and our aim is to ensure that there are no difficulties during the movement of dignitaries during the summit,” he added.

Gupta said that the advisories are being shared with the public through the Delhi Police website, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and print media so that the public does not face inconvenience during the movement.

“We have 22 diversion points in place, under which we will divert the public from designated points. We have also briefed our staff to guide people, wherever needed, regarding the diverted routes,” he added.

He noted that the closure of all schools and government offices on September 11, would make it easy for the police to manage traffic movement.

The senior police officer also said that liaisons are being made with navigation maps and cab service providers so that they integrate the police advisories into their system so that the public are aware and do not face any difficulty while travelling.

Urging citizens to go through the official advisory before travelling on the days of the Summit, Gupta said: “The advisory contains details of all the routes that will be affected.”

Earlier on Tuesday, the National Testing Agency (NTA) advised candidates appearing for the UGC NET June 2026 re-examination in Delhi to plan their journeys well in advance, citing possible travel restrictions in the national capital on September 9 and 10 that could lead to longer road journeys and delays in reaching examination centres.

In an advisory issued for candidates, the testing agency urged those appearing for the examination to check their travel routes beforehand, leave early, and keep sufficient additional time in hand to account for possible traffic restrictions, diversions or delays during their journey to the designated examination centres.
