Gwalior, July 10 (IANS) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA, Pritam Lodhi’s son, Dinesh Lodhi, has been declared an absconder by a special court in Gwalior in connection with a case registered under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
The Special Court for SC/ST Act cases passed the order after Dinesh Lodhi repeatedly failed to appear before it despite the issuance of warrants.
The court also issued a permanent arrest warrant against him and directed the police to arrest him and produce him before the court.
According to information, the case is registered at Purani Chhawani police station in Gwalior. An arrest warrant had earlier been issued against Dinesh Lodhi in December 2023.
However, police informed the court that the warrant could not be executed as the accused could not be traced.
After considering the police report and his continued absence, the court declared him absconding under the relevant provisions of law.
Police said the proclamation proceedings were completed before the court passed the order declaring him an absconder.
Police have now been directed to execute the permanent arrest warrant and ensure his appearance before the court.
Dinesh Lodhi has figured in other criminal cases in recent months. In April this year, Shivpuri Police registered a case against him after his Thar SUV allegedly hit five people, including pedestrians and motorcycle riders, near Karera.
The incident had triggered a political controversy after videos related to the accident surfaced on social media.
Earlier, he was also arrested in an attempt-to-murder case registered in Gwalior in which he was accused of trying to run over a man with his SUV.
The matter had also attracted public attention at the time.
Pritam Lodhi, who represents the Pichhore Assembly constituency in Shivpuri district, has not issued any statement on the latest court order.
There was also no immediate reaction from Dinesh Lodhi or his legal counsel regarding the case and the court order o his son.
