Patna, Sep 10 (IANS) The ongoing internal tussle over organisational affairs and leadership in the Bihar Congress has escalated, with the party’s state disciplinary committee issuing show-cause notices to 32 leaders over alleged anti-party activities.
The leaders have been asked to explain their positions and respond to the allegations levelled against them.
The move comes amid growing discontent within the state unit over organisational functioning and leadership.
The list of leaders who have received notices includes former MLAs Anil Singh and Poonam Devi, as well as Bharat Bhushan Dubey, former West Champaran district Congress president.
Show-cause notices have also been issued to Mrityunjay Singh, former Aurangabad district president; Satyendra Yadav, former Madhepura district president; and Vidhu Shekhar Pandey, former Siwan district president.
According to party sources, the disciplinary committee took the action after taking note of public statements and activities by several leaders that were allegedly against the interests of the organisation.
The development has intensified political activity within the Bihar Congress, with attention now focused on how the 32 leaders respond to the notices.
The disciplinary action follows growing signs of dissatisfaction within the Bihar Congress over organisational issues and the functioning of the state leadership.
According to party sources, disgruntled leaders had openly raised their concerns in recent days and even staged a protest before the Congress high command in Delhi on September 8.
The latest notices indicate that the state leadership has adopted a stricter approach towards internal dissent and alleged anti-party activities.
It remains to be seen whether the explanations submitted by the 32 leaders will help ease the differences within the Bihar Congress or lead to further escalation of the internal dispute.
The Bihar Congress has been grappling with internal disputes since the 2025 Bihar Assembly election, in which the party performed poorly.
The current state Congress president, Rajesh Ram, also lost the Assembly election from his seat in the Aurangabad district.
Since then, a section of Bihar Congress leaders has openly raised concerns over the leadership of Rajesh Ram and the party’s Bihar in-charge, Krishna Allavaru.
They have alleged that the party’s policies and organisational decisions contributed to its poor performance in the Assembly election.
