Jaipur, Oct 8 (IANS) The Rajasthan Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday arrested a Senior Medical Officer and a private individual for allegedly accepting a Rs 35,000 bribe at Nadbai in Bharatpur district.

According to the ACB, Shashikant Sharma, Senior Medical Officer at the Government Hospital in Nadbai, allegedly demanded Rs 35,000 from a complainant through Trilokchand Sharma alias Chinu, who was allegedly acting as his middleman.

The bribe was allegedly sought for preparing a “strong” Medico-Legal Case (MLC) report related to injuries sustained by the complainant’s family members.

The complainant had earlier registered an assault case at Nadbai Police Station, following which the injured family members were required to undergo medical examinations at the government hospital.

The ACB’s Dholpur unit conducted a confidential verification of the complaint and confirmed the alleged demand before carrying out the trap operation.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of Omprakash Meena, Deputy Inspector General of Police, ACB Bharatpur Range, and led by Premchand Meena, Deputy Superintendent of Police, ACB Dholpur Unit.

During the trap, ACB officials allegedly caught Trilokchand Sharma accepting Rs 35,000 on behalf of Shashikant Sharma.

According to the bureau, the bribe money was recovered from his trouser pocket.

Shashikant Sharma was detained at his government residence, the ACB said.

Further interrogation and legal proceedings are underway.

The bureau said a case would be registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act, and further investigation would be conducted.
