Ahmedabad, Sep 1 (IANS) Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Gujarat from September 3 to 5, with his three-day programme, including the inauguration and dedication of development works as well as events related to religious celebrations and railway infrastructure.

During his visit to his home state, Union Minister Shah will attend the Shri Krishna Janmashtami celebrations in Ahmedabad on September 4.

He is scheduled to participate in the programme at the Kalyan Pushti Haveli in Vastrapur area.

The Home Minister will also attend the inauguration programme for the redevelopment of Sabarmati Railway Station.

The visit will also include the launch of the country’s first LNG-diesel dual-fuel Diesel Electric Multiple Unit (DEMU) train, which is scheduled to operate from Sabarmati.

The train is expected to be flagged off on September 4.

The visit will come days after Amit Shah’s recent engagements in the state on August 27, when he inaugurated the newly constructed ‘Gujarat Gaurav Lake’ at Dudhala in Amreli district and attended the 72nd convocation of Gujarat Vidyapith in Ahmedabad.

He also chaired a high-level meeting to review preparations for the upcoming Olympic and Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad.

At the Amreli event, Union Minister Shah highlighted the state’s work in water conservation and management, recalling the large-scale construction of check dams during PM Narendra Modi’s tenure as the then Gujarat Chief Minister.

He said the state’s irrigation capacity had expanded substantially through such efforts and praised water conservation initiatives in the Saurashtra region.

During the same visit, Union Minister Shah was also scheduled to attend the RV Patel Pharminnova Awards 2026 in Thaltej and a ‘Lok Darbar’ at Bopal to interact with residents.

On August 31, Amit Shah also reviewed ongoing development works in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, including civic infrastructure projects and tree plantation activities in the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency.

Officials were directed to ensure time-bound completion of the works.
