Kolkata, July 27 (IANS) The West Bengal Police arrested the kingpin of a cyber fraud ring who duped people across the country by threatening digital arrests, said the police on Monday.

The cybercrime branch of the state police arrested the cyber fraudster named Aman Singh recently during a search in Goa on Sunday.

Police said that the arrested Aman Singh set up illegal call centres with the help of his associates in various parts of the country, including Kolkata and the Salt Lake area. The fraudsters also used SIM boxes to create illegal telecom infrastructure.

Recently, a complaint was filed in this regard at the Electronics Complex police station in Bidhannagar (Salt Lake area). A case was started based on the complaint. Detectives of the cybercrime branch of the state police started searching for the leaders of this cyber fraud ring.

After a thorough investigation and interrogating several people who had been arrested earlier and based on their mobile phone details, the police identified Aman Singh. After investigating, the detectives came to know that Aman Singh is the main accused in the digital arrest threat case.

A similar case was also filed against him with the Mumbai Police. Apart from that, he is also an accused in a sexual harassment case in Kolkata. He was absconding while evading the police in both Kolkata and Mumbai.

Apart from this, Aman Singh is the mastermind behind many cyber fraud cases filed in different states. Based on that information, the detectives started investigating and came to know that Aman was hiding in a tent on one of the beaches in Goa. Based on that information, the detectives of the state police raided Goa in search of him. He was caught red-handed. He is being brought to Kolkata on transit remand.

After interrogating Aman, the police said that the criminals involved in the cybercrime network in this state and the whole country are being searched.
