Hyderabad, July 20 (IANS) Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy backed the students protesting in Delhi and demanded an immediate end to ‘police brutality’ and accountability in the NEET and other paper leaks scandal.
The Chief Minister posted on social media that students from across India who converged to demand justice over the NEET paper-leak scandal are being beaten up with lathis and tear gas when they were marching to Parliament to draw attention to their struggle.
“The central government is using police force to silence the very youth whose future it has endangered. Every blow struck against a protesting student exposes the BJP’s fear of questions, truth and democratic dissent,” he said.
“I firmly stand with India’s students, and we demand an immediate end to police brutality and accountability in the NEET and other paper leaks scandal,” he added.
Revanth Reddy had earlier stated that paper leaks have “demonetised” students’ future.
Reacting to the cancellation of NEET-UG 2026 following the paper leak in May, Revanth Reddy said the credibility of national-level examinations must be protected and that those involved in the paper leak must face punishment.
He stated that the cancellation of the NEET-UG 2026 examination has caused enormous distress and uncertainty among lakhs of students and parents across India.
“The credibility of national examinations must be protected at all costs. Any individuals or networks involved in paper leaks or corruption must face the strictest punishment, irrespective of their influence or position,” he had said.
According to reports from the national capital, the security forces used tear gas shells to disperse thousands of supporters of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) who gathered to march to the Parliament on the first day of the monsoon session on Monday, despite police denying permission for the protest.
The police reportedly also used sticks and batons to disperse the crowd, mostly youngsters, who had converged at the Jantar Mantar protest site for the “Chalo Sansad” march against alleged irregularities in NEET and to demand the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Some protesters and police personnel sustained minor injuries as they allegedly tried to breach barricades while marching towards Parliament.
