Patna, May 25 (IANS) A tragic road accident in Arrah claimed the life of Rajiv Ranjan, also known as Goldie, on Monday after a speeding private school bus allegedly ran over his motorcycle on the Bypass Road under the jurisdiction of the Town Police Station, Arrah in Bihar.

Rajiv Ranjan, 42, who was serving as an Assistant Sub-Inspector in the Bihar Police Special Branch and was currently posted in Patna, suffered critical injuries in the collision.

Locals immediately rushed to help and attempted to take him to the Sadar Hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries on the way.

According to eyewitnesses, the school bus driver fled immediately after the accident.

The driver later parked the bus near a private bus stand before escaping from the scene.

Police have since seized the bus and launched a search operation to trace the absconding driver.

Rajiv Ranjan was a resident of Ward No. 9 in Baligaon village under the jurisdiction of the Ayar Police Station.

He was the son of Ram Layak Singh. His sudden death has left both his family and the police department in deep shock.

Family member Anil Kumar Singh said that Rajiv’s grandfather had passed away on May 19, and a Satlehan ritual ceremony was being conducted in the village on Monday.

After attending the ceremony, Rajiv Ranjan was returning to Patna on his motorcycle to resume official duty when the fatal accident occurred.

The incident has triggered grief and anger among local residents, many of whom have demanded the immediate arrest of the bus driver.

Locals described Rajiv Ranjan as a dedicated and sincere police officer whose untimely death has devastated his family.

Police officials from the Town Police Station have begun an investigation into the accident.

Authorities are examining the accident site and gathering evidence to determine the exact cause of the crash, while efforts continue to identify and apprehend the driver responsible.
