Chandigarh, May 13 (IANS) In a landmark moment for Punjab’s education sector, three girl students have scripted history by securing a perfect 500 out of 500 marks in the Class XII board examinations, the results of which were declared by the Punjab School Education Board.
Supneet Kaur of Gurukul Academy Public Senior Secondary School in Ubbha, Mansa, clinched the top spot in the science stream, while Suhani Chauhan of BCM Senior Secondary School in Jamalpur Colony, Focal Point, Ludhiana, secured the second position in the humanities stream.
Divanshi of Teja Singh Sutantar Memorial Senior Secondary School in Shimlapuri, Ludhiana, secured third place in the humanities stream.
Notably, all three toppers are also promising sportspersons.
A total of 265,417 students appeared for the annual examination, of whom 242,755 passed, registering an impressive overall pass percentage of 91.46 per cent.
Stream-wise, commerce recorded the highest pass percentage at 98.78 per cent, with 34,074 of 34,496 students clearing the examination, followed by science at 98.47 per cent, with 55,593 of 56,456 passing.
In the humanities stream, 145,179 of 165,457 students passed, registering 87.74 per cent, while the vocational stream recorded 87.80 per cent, with 7,909 of 9,008 students clearing the examination.
“This result is a reflection of the relentless hard work of our students, the dedication of our teachers, and the systematic reforms introduced by the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann-led Punjab government,” Education Minister Harjot Bains said.
While lauding the three toppers for their excellence, Bains wished all successful students the very best for their future.
He also noted that multiple perfect scores across different streams were truly remarkable.
He credited the state’s focus on digital classrooms, teacher training, and timely syllabus completion for the improved outcome.
